The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 422

He just took off his shoes and put on his slippers like it was a regular day. The housekeeping system welcomed him home but Zi Han was like a zombie especially when he had on that ghastly expression. He was completely dead inside.

He walked upstairs and as the door slid open he took off his suit jacket and was about to throw it on the floor when his hand froze mid air. He realised then that his baby didn’t like him throwing his clothes everywhere and would always clean up after him. The tears that had just dried up soon began to pour out again. His lips trembled and he broke down.

He slumped heavily on the bed and the still room was suddenly filled with sorrowful whimpers and an aura of grief. He cried till his eyes and nose were swollen and red. He couldn’t understand why Yi Chen would risk himself for this. It wasn’t worth it if it meant he would lose him.

What he didn’t realise was that Yi Chen felt the same way about his position as Marshal. If it weren’t that he needed the power that came with it so he could be with his lover he would have dropped it all. To him, it wasn’t worth it if it meant losing Zi Han.

Yi Chen believed that if he was able to find his lover’s father then the picture would be complete. But if he was to tell Zi Han that, Zi Han would tell him to let it go. He would rather have him by his side instead of risking his life.

Zi Han curled up on the bed and hugged Yi Chen’s pillow as he shut his eyes tightly with hot tears streaming down his face. His body felt tired from the pain thus he unconsciously fell into a deep sleep.

Meanwhile, Yi Zhen and Zi Xingxi were still going at it. Yi Zhen never knew how stubborn this woman was until today. She had suffered more hits than he did but she refused to stay down. When he thought she had had enough she would wipe her blood-stained lips and get up again. They had been fighting intensely for the past three hours and such an intense battle between such powerful mechs would take a toll on anyone’s mental power even that of the best mech fighters in the federation.

Zi Xingxi could barely keep a mental connection with Chronos but like Chronos, they were determined to bring the opponent down.

.....

“Give up,” said the former Marshal as Hydra staggered back while staring at Chronos half kneeling on the ground.

“You fucking wish. My baby did nothing wrong. He did your fucking job yet you dared put him in custody...,” said Zi Xingxi before getting up. Her mech struggled to get up but she still persisted. “If I don’t fight for him then who would? You forget my husband’s kindness towards you. You forget that if it weren’t for him you would be here today. You ungrateful bastard.”

After saying this Chronos lunged at Hydra but in a display of dominance Hydra grabbed Chronos by the neck and lifted it from the ground.

“Just give up and we will talk it out. You aren’t my opponent,” said the former Marshal but Zi Xingxi’s reaction was unexpected.

She smiled slyly and said, “I am not but my dad is.”

After saying that Yi Zhen’s face stiffened before letting her go. The moment Chronos stepped on the ground Zi Xingxi came out of Chronos and Zi Feiji jumped off the railing. Before his feet touched the ground Chronos disintegrated and reemerged on Zi Feiji.

What she said wasn’t just bragging. Her father was no joke. He was the kind who would say, “I am a lover, not a fighter,” but when it was time to fight he would put whoever it was that dared challenge him in his place.

“Playtime is over,” said Zi Feiji as he put away Chronos’ sword. They were going to fight with fists.

Yi Zhen was suddenly struck by a myriad of flashbacks. Each fight he had ever had with Zi Feiji would end up with something broken, be it a mech or an arm.

While the former marshal was experiencing real pain, Zi Han felt a hand on his cheek while a soft voice was calling his name. He wanted to open his eyes but they felt so heavy that he didn’t want to open them.

“Leave me alone... please,” he whispered but the person kneeling by the bedside couldn’t leave him like that.

That’s because his entire body was scorching. It was obvious that he had a fever. While Zi Xingxi was fighting for his son, Lin Ruoxi took the initiative to find Zi Han especially when she heard what her husband did.

As expected she didn’t go to immediately find him. It’s a shame that he behaved so well all this time only to relapse and go after Zi Han again. They could keep him overnight for all she cared.

She began to take care of Zi Han while trying to get hold of Zi Xingxi. It was only after his temperature had dropped somewhat did Zi Xingxi become reachable.

“... I am not letting him go. He has gone too far,” was Zi Xingxi’s first response when she answered Lin Ruoxi’s call.

Lin Ruoxi shook her head while explaining, “I know. It’s Han Han. He has a fever.”

Zi Xingxi who thought she wanted to intercede for her husband was a little startled. She didn’t think Zi Han would fall sick from this. She was so focused on her anger toward the former Marshal that she forgot how vulnerable he was now.

“I will be right there... Oh, and Ru... Thank you,” said Zi Xingxi before taking off. She was so anxious that she walked through a mech battlefield which was incredibly dangerous before entering a stealth cruiser leaving for Capital star.
