Chapter 493: Two Little Objectives

Chapter 493: Two Little Objectives

The Golden Immortal Sura took a deep breath to hold back his excitement, and thanked Jiang He with a fist-palm salute.

Jiang He smiled in return. “No need to thank me, Brother. I’m just offering a humble effort for what I should be doing anyway—when you return, do send my regards to Brother Nether River if you see him.”

“Of course, of course!”

The Golden Immortal Sura was all smiles.

Being addressed as ‘brother’ by a human Grand Luo certainly boosted his ego, and he asked, “May I ask for your Daoist title, my lord?”

“I’m an untitled cultivator.”

Jiang He replied honestly. “But my name is He, last name Jiang.”

The Golden Immortal Sura was left doubtful.

It was really rare for an untitled cultivator to reach Grand Luo, and it was even weirder that Jiang He did not have a title after reaching this tier. After all, a resounding title was necessary when one made their way through the stars, and most cultivators would have a Daoist title at Golden Pellet or Yuan Child tiers.

Still, the Golden Immortal Sura did not dare to ask.

He glanced at the Golden Pellet daemon who was hiding behind Jiang He then, and said through clenched teeth, “My lord, the Yuan Killer Sword is the greatest treasure of our clan, and it is of utmost importance...”

“Don’t worry, I’ll wipe his memory later.”

“Many thanks.”

The Golden Immortal Sura offered another fist-palm salute and said, “As this matter is of utmost importance, we need to hurry back to our hour. Do come to Sura as our guest if you have the time—I’m sure our Patriarch would welcome you with open arms.”

With that, the Suras left in a hurry.

They did not even bother to collect the deposit for their room, as they left the inn and then Blaze City straightway. Whipping out a warping jade charm, they arrived beyond the asteroid zone in the blink of an eye.

One of the female Suras asked in confusion then, “My lord... did that Grand Luo human really return the Yuan Killer Sword?”

“Could he actually be fooling us with the seal on the Spatial Ring and the letter?”

“Nonsense!”

The Golden Immortal Sura smirked confidently. “Our patriarch would revive soon, and he would have a karmic connection with the patriarch if he did not return the Yuan Killer Sword. Unless there were Saints willing to shelter him at any given instant, who could save him with the methods our patriarch has at his disposal?”

“Returning the Yuan Killer Sword is merely his way of saving himself.”

The Golden Immortal Sura spoke eloquently, “Keeping it inside the Spatial Ring was nothing more than saving face. Moreover, that Jiang He said that he was merely an untitled cultivator—would he dare to offend our patriarch?”

The beautiful female Sura stammered, unsure how to retort just then. Even if it was what an ordinary Grand Luo would do if they were thinking straight, she was just a little worried as her womanly instincts kept warning her that something wasn’t right.

“Why didn’t he bring the Yuan Killer Sword to Sura personally? Would it not be better to personally return it and get on our patriarch’s good side? Why go through the bother of writing a letter?”

The Golden Immortal Sura laughed out loud and said, “You’re born later and did not witness our patriarch strutting through all the worlds in the universe. A mere Grand Luo, daring to stand before our partriarch?”

“He wrote the letter because he did not dare to meet our patriarch, which is why he is doing that to explain himself and apologize to him, even attempting to build some good ties.”

The Golden Immortal Sura’s eye was filled with zeal and reverence whenever he mentioned the patriarch.

After a few more exchanges, the Golden Immortal Sura’s face turned cool as he swept his gaze over the others and somberly said, “Keep a secret about this for now, and do not tell anyone before we return to Sura—not even your loved ones!”

Back in the inn, Jiang He and the others were eating several large tables worth of dishes...

But he found them all tasteless.

However, it was not because the inn’s dishes were poor, but it was him usually eating like a king, and eating this stuff instead naturally felt tasteless.

Putting down his bowl and chopsticks, Jiang He remembered the Sura cultivators just then and could not help chuckling. “And here I thought the Suras would be the intimidating type—I didn’t think that they would be this friendly.”

Wang Hou, who was still eating, almost choked. Glancing at Jiang He, he said with a weirded-out tone, “One Golden Immortal and four True Immortals intimidating you? Moreover, it was already incredible to them that you were willing to return the Yuan Killer Sword, and they would naturally watch themselves.

“...”

Taken aback, Jiang He replied, “But I didn’t return the Yuan Killer Sword.”

What?

Thunderstruck, Wang Hou flinched and almost dropped his chopsticks on the floor.

Turning his head stiffly, Wang Hou looked in shock at Jiang He, “You didn’t return it?”

“Of course. It’s a premium-grade innate soul treasure and the finest tool to kill, and my combat ability is at least boosted by thirty percent with it in my grasp. Why should I return it?”

“...”

Wang Hou gulped and quickly asked, “What about the Spatial Ring?”

“Oh, that... While I did obtain the Yuan Killer Sword legally, it was still once a treasure of the Nether River Patriarch. Is it not reasonable that I should at least offer him some spiritual compensation since I’ve taken his stuff?”

“Compensation?”

“Yes.”

Jiang He replied. “Considering that the Nether River Patriarch is an invincible elite and wouldn’t lack immortal crystals or immortal items, I give him some snacks like potato chips, cola, and chicken wings that filled half the Spatial Ring... Eh? Why that look on your face, Minister Wang? Are you feeling sick somewhere?”

“Oh, I’ve also wrote a letter to the Nether River Patriarch and explained a little, hoping to sever the karmic ties we have. I was even ready to personally head to Sura and reason things out with him before.”

Jiang He smiled relaxedly. “One of my two little objectives for coming to the celestial battlefield has finally been accomplished... alright, everyone, eat, and we’ll have a stroll around Blaze City for a day, and take its warp portal tomorrow to head to the Galactic Empire.”

Two... little objectives???

Wang Hou remembered Jiang He’s words then, and could not help muttering, “That’s your first objective? Then what about the second?”

What the hell!

Your first objective is already an offense to the Nether River Patriarch that is punishable by death.

You can’t be thinking about provoking the Saints with the second, are you?

Jiang He, however, did not hide it from Wang Hou and answered honestly, “Didn’t I have a little misunderstanding with the Green Hill Foxes? Their clan are quite influential in the celestial battlefield, with Golden Immortals and Grand Luo as well as ties to Lady Nüwa herself. To the truth, I’ve come to the celestial battlefield to make peace with them, hoping that they would let bygones be bygones and forget the grudge between us.”

“...”

Make peace, my foot!

You wiped out the legacy the left on Earth and killed a number of their Golden Immortals along with dozens of their True Immortals and Heavenly Immortals.

And you are asking them not to hold it against you?

Most importantly, how are Green Hill Foxes connected with the Saints?

After musing to himself for a long while, Wang Hou rose and asked, “Should we return to Earth for now, Jiang He?”
