Chapter 265: Ranking Match

Chapter 265: Ranking Match

“Help you guys in the ranking match? What’s that?” Zhou Ruying asked.

Xiang Zichen sighed. “The ranking match... a match held in Volt Wing City and the gangs participate in them. It’s more like gambling. Master died because he lost his precious flying sword in the match....”

“Gambling is not a good thing, so why participate?” Lu Mingshu furrowed her eyebrows.

“We must participate!” Xiang Zimei interrupted. “In Volt Wing City, the higher a gang is ranked, the lesser taxes the gang has to pay. The top ten would not only not have to pay taxes, but there are also even rewards! When master was alive, we always paid the second-grade tax. We will be downgraded if we do not participate. As for the gambling, Master did it because of he...”

“So, you want to get your master’s flying sword back?”

The trio nodded.

“Sorry for being straightforward,” Lu Mingshu started, “but with your ability, you are just going to lose it again even if you get it back.”

“True.” Zhou Ruying nodded in agreement. “Unless...”

“Unless what?”

Zhou Ruying shook her head. “You get stronger.”

Xiang Zichen sighed dejectedly. “That’s almost impossible. Zimei and I do not have good body structures, so I don’t know if we can even reach the Foundation Realm! Yan’er has a better chance, but she’s too young right now.”

“How long does it take to reach the Foundation Realm on average?” Ling Wuxia, who was standing at the side watching this unfold, interrupted.

“Er... the fastest in this city was twenty years old!”

“That’s late!”

“Oh no, it’s not!” Xiang Zimei quickly explained. “Most people reach the Foundation Realm from twenty-five to forty years old.”

Zhou Ruying turned to Lu Mingshu. “If I’m not wrong, their Foundation Realm is our Harmonization Realm, right?”

Lu Mingshu nodded.

“Is the Harmonization Realm that hard to reach? The oldest people reach the Harmonization Realm at twenty, and elites reach it at the age of fourteen. The difference is too much!”

“Hey,” Lu Mingshu nudged her. “You didn’t ask about their lifespan.”

“Lifespan?” Zhou Ruying turned back to the trio. “How long can you all live?”

Xiang Zichen bit his lips. “If we don’t get into the Foundation Realm, Zimei and I could live about a hundred years?”

Zhou Ruying’s and Ling Wuxia’s eyes widened in shock.

“And if you get into the Foundation Realm?”

“At least two hundred. If we take good care of our health, we could live up to three hundred.”

“...” Ling Wuxia and Zhou Ruying were speechless. Three hundred... that’s the lifespan of an Assimilation Realm elder!

“Do you get it? That’s why they’re different from us.” Lu Mingshu realized it long ago. Different worlds had different cultivation speeds, but different lifespans as well.

“Wow, three hundred...” Zhou Ruying said.

“Do you wish to stay?” Lu Mingshu side-eyed her.

Zhou Ruying laughed and changed the topic. “What do we get in return for helping you three?”

“I...” Xiang Zichen stared at them blankly. Their monastery was very poor, so what could they afford to give?

“Spirit stones!” Lu Mingshu pointed out. “We can help you with the ranking match, but we need a lot of spirit stones.”

Xiang Zimei blinked. “Senior, you can just bet if you want that! A lot of people are going to gamble during the ranking match!”

...

After they finished talking, the Lu Mingshu trio went back to the room at the back.

“What’s a spirit stone?” Zhou Ruying asked as they entered the room.

“Didn’t you see it when we were sold to them?” Ling Wuxia answered, side-eyeing her. “They’re like mystic crystals, but not as pure. I’m guessing that about a hundred spirit stones are equivalent to a mystic crystal.

Lu Mingshu nodded. Ling Wuxia may be slightly bitchy, but her ability is indeed there. Just one look and she could tell what a spirit stone is.

“What do you want spirit stones for?” Ling Wuxia raised her eyebrows. “Aren’t our mystic crystals-”

“Do you have any?” Lu Mingshu cut her off. “We can’t open our mustard seed pouches, remember?”

Ling Wuxia kept quiet.

Lu Mingshu sighed and took out the mirror.

“Hey!” Ling Wuxia reached out for it.

Lu Mingshu kept the mirror immediately and pointed at her. “Do you believe I’ll leave you here if you do that again?”

“You would dare!?”

“Why wouldn’t I? What can you do to me here?”

Ling Wuxia was fuming with anger.

“Ah, just get to the point.” Compared to Ling Wuxia, Zhou Ruying didn’t really care about the treasures. No matter who got it, as long as she was taken along, it was all good. Besides, she worked with Lu Mingshu before, so she still trusted her.

“I suspect that it’s not usable now because it has run out of energy.”

“So, you want to use the spirit stones to recharge it?”

Lu Mingshu nodded. “The energy in this world is similar to ours. I also asked around to find out that, when a magic tool can no longer be used, one should use spirit stones to recharge it. Everyone in this world knows about it.”

“Hmmm...” Zhou Ruying clapped. “Let’s try it then.”

Both of them looked over to Ling Wuxia.

Ling Wuxia looked at them, face turning black. “Just try it then! I’m not afraid of you all!”

...

To participate in the ranking match, they first needed to get their mystic force back.

Even though the monastery was small and broken, it was enough for them. The three went into their respective rooms and started to train.

Lu Mingshu’s meridians were still in good shape, and so were her skills. Her current situation was like a swimming pool without water; just fill it up, and it would be good to go. There was nothing hard about it, it just required time.

In the room, Lu Mingshu took out three items.

Firstly, the mirror that sent them here.

Secondly, a book.

Thirdly, a bronze straw.

Lu Mingshu examined the first two items for a bit before putting them away. It was already known what the usage of the mirror was, and the book was just a book about skills.

As for the bronze straw, the material looked similar to the bronze statue – Little Boo’s material.

She played around with it, and there seemed to be nothing special. Suddenly, an idea popped into her head, and she put her newly cultivated energy into it.

Crack! Crack! Sounds could be heard from the straw. Lu Mingshu jumped up, and it dropped to the floor.

More cracking sounds could be heard, and the straw started to expand. It then turned into a ball and split in half.

Clink! A bronze man jumped out.

“Oh, Little Boo is out?” It blinked its eyes and looked at Lu Mingshu. “Are you the one who brought Little Boo out?”

“...that’s what you meant by luck?” Lu Mingshu asked.

Crack! Little Boo paused. “Yes. Master said that Little Boo is the most precious thing.”

“So, am I your master now?” Lu Mingshu burst out laughing.

Little Boo’s eyes shone. After some time, it spoke, “Yes, Master.”

Getting the bronze man, Lu Mingshu was more than pleased. The book and the mirror may have been valuable, but compared to the one and only Little Boo, they were nothing to Lu Mingshu.

How much would the Grandmaster’s precious servant, who followed him around every day, know? She currently couldn’t enter the Heavenly Wheel, and having Little Boo by her side would make things better.
